Its not to say that I disregard either or both, but I cant really say I have a strong feeling of belonging to either. So where Tryone Washington probably strongly identifies with being a black man, or Tommy McPatty strongly identifies with his irish ancestry, I dont really have any ties like this. Being bi-racial, I did not grow up with a parent who I could racially identify with, nor did I really have much to look to in terms of pop/historical figures. In terms of race, I was sort of on my own. So I feel that racially I probably have more in common with a person born to an irish parent and a korean parent then I do with either a black person or a white person.
I never got an answer from you as to whether you were ok with "half-black".
