What media players do you guys use?

This is probably the thing that has bugged me the most after switching over after having used linux for half a decade. I can't seem to find a decent music player for windows.
And I'm being absolutely serious.

What I'm mostly looking for is a player that automatically shows suggestions based on the last.fm database, and is able to create dynamic playlists. - Which means that the player is looking for songs that are similar to what I'm listening to, looks if I have them in my library and automatically cues them after my current playlist runs out.
Automatic fetching of album covers is a plus.
Automatic lyrics and wikipedia information fetching is a plus.

But even just a player where you have some sort of filtering capability on one side and a playlist always in plain view on the other seems too much to ask - this is what bugs me the most about itunes and songbird. Or something as simple as having it remove played tracks from the playlist. Or that it lets you drag and drop a whole album within a playlist.

What I use right now is an early early alpha build of amarok for windows. It works, but it isn't optimal.

I loved Amarok when I was primarily using linux. I remember seeing something about a windows port that was part of KDE for windows, but it wasn't working well last I checked (about a year or two ago)

I'm not sure if it fits all your needs, but I have found MediaMonkey to be my favorite windows music player.

And for video, it's VLC regardless of platform and its not close.

musikCube really is pretty awesome, you can rate your songs and rate songs/create play lists on the fly, way easier than in winamp.

You should probably read the faq then because you don't understand it's basic concepts...

It scans what music you have and allows you to listen to "your" library through their centralized music library. You can listen to songs you don't have once. From then on you need to buy them or only get 30 second samples. You also designate folders that the lala program will regularly scan and will add any new downloaded songs to your "purchased" library.

Also, Lala was recently purchased by Apple so expect this to eventually evolve to be itunes on the web. Not sure if that's good or bad tbh.

Does anyone know of a Media Player which plays back files without pauses (or user defined) between the songs? I use a laptop with Winamp in my bar and the gap between songs pisses me off from time to time.

Media Monkey should do that just fine. Actually by default it overlaps a couple seconds going from one song to the next. This is adjustable to your taste.

Lolwut. VLC doesn't support ffdshow or any other decent codec, nor does it support DXVA. Useless.

MPC-HC for video, Winamp or Songbird for audio.

Using VLC I've never had to install any codecs whatsoever. That's kind of the nice thing about it.

I doubt I've tried all video formats out there, but I've never run into a video that it didn't play...and I've downloaded quite a bit.

The point is not about having to, it's about being able to. Personally I'd either want the best possible quality (ffdshow) or best possible performance (hardware acceleration with DXVA), VLC offers neither. Then again I could care more about whether some random obscure funny clip off the interwebs plays back, I just want hd movies to look good on my screen.

I downloaded it, but then I decided against installing it. I already have so much crap on this pc. - The cool thing about VLC is that it can play broken video files and even fix them. I use mplayer as a backup that can even play the most mangled files, but it doesn't decode as nicely as vlc - that's my main problem with other video players I've tried. When I look at a - not even heavily encoded avi, vlc decodes it a lot better than winamp, windows media or mplayer.
I also like miro - I like the concept better than the execution... hopefully it will get better.
