    Default Bad Shove?

Was this a bad shove with the player in the SB with 10 chips left or worth the risk you think?

What's the problem here? You have the best preflop hand in poker, you got all your chips in and somebody called.

That said, first up I would have raised 4x BB rather than 8x, but once you get the donkminraiser and all those callers then I definitely shove over since there is a very good chance that somebody will call.

Yeah I was thinking the SB going all in with 10 chips is one more chance for someone to draw out on me, but yeah, if he wins I lose 20 chips. Never mind, dumb question.

But on the 4x vs 8x raise preflop point, I might argue that at the $1.20 level if I raise to 80 chips I'm likely to get 6 callers and get out drawn by KTo or some such. Do the odds of winning even with multiple callers not justify knocking people out? I admit I would have been disappointed if I got no callers.

No worries, the only dumb questions on this forums are the ones that you have but don't ask

If somebody is willing to call your preflop raise with a hand that you beat (which in this case would be every other hand!) then that's a good thing. Don't be scared of being outflopped, that is expected to happen a (small) proportion of the time. That said, I don't hate a bigger raise like 5x at micro stakes because, as you say, you definitely won't chase everybody away and are better off because you've managed to build a bigger pot.

Cool, thanks. So you'd think raise to 4-5x BB and get 5 callers at micro stakes, you're happy because you're still going to win most of the time and the pot will be bigger when you do.

Yep, and if I did get 5 callers after raising 5x BB I would bet BIG (ie full pot) on the flop (unless it came super connected like KQJ double suited and neither of my aces were of that suit).
