Default I'm taking a break, but seriously...

Here I am again after a couple of days and a clear mind, without any idiotic thoughts anymore (that the poker sites are rigged)

But seriously, I have a problem. I ment to write about this for months, but it is hard as it is with no free time and 3 kids playing poker after hours, so I could never make the time.

So two days a go after another bad beat session, instead of writing this, I was so tilted that I started babbling about rigged sites etc.

So this is it. As I mentioned in my other post, I am a decent player, on the green about 6-5K, I love MTTs so much that I cannot play anything else.I won my last tournament in June, 1K sth at ipoker and thats it!

I play even better now than when I was doing well, but nothing works. I put the money in the middle with the best hand most of the times and I lose 905 of the time!!! I lose 90% of the coin flips as well. It is so bad, that when I have TT and I am called by 99 (shove), I KNOW he is gonna get his 9. I just know it. THe same with dominating hands. Dont let me start with coin flips or the donks luck with junk. Or the 2 outer rivers. Or flopping a joint with a hand I folded because I had to (countless times). You get it.

I know that the mentallity of the loser I have right now is bad for poker. The thing is however, I never do crazy things in the game. I abuse my bankroll though... That is a mistake. Anyway, to conclude.

I learned that poker is all about decisions and not result oriented, meaning putting the money in with the best hand . And it is not working. And worst thing is I know the next time is going to happen again. It is like I live in a world were math and statistics do not aply, a world were donks always win....

Help me out here guys, how do I deal with this? I have people tell me (including my father who is a gambler ) "Fold the AA next time to break the bad luck" or "play 32o" and those kind of nonsense.

A few words from the wise?

How many hands are you playing per month?

I've had some very bad stretches of luck that have lasted over 30-40,000 hands.
I lost about 14 coin flip situations in a row (QQ vs AK; AK vs QQ) over a period of a few days.

Luck is a bitch. It doesn't give a shit how bad your are running.
If you've lost with AA vs KK three times in a row, you are not more likely to win the fourth time.

    sample size

    selective memory

    run bad

    probably in that order.

they all feel worse playing under rolled.

A good first step is stop whining to people you know about it, none of them can help or care.

There have been roughly 1,000,000 of these posts on the internet. Probably a few of them really are cursed, i mean someone has to run bad forever. Most of them aren't.

I was beat yester day with top set of jacks vs straight flush on river. A day later I lost with big fullhouse twice against flopped quads. Then an hour later Aces vs kings and he hit a king on the river.

The sample is about 15,000 hands, so JL you are right, it is not so big. Dr McBoy I don't have a selective memory, I know what I am talking about.

Anyway, I was talking about the psycological aspect of the matter. This "loser mentality" that I have right now, the fact that I expect to lose when I am waiting for the cards to come out. How do someone deal with that?

I have stopped whining thousands of hands ago, I am just seeking a bit of help from people who know poker very well and dealt with situations like this probably more than once during their career. I know I am a beginner, the fact that my sheet is on the + side is partialy because I played well and partially luck, exactly the way the game is. I just want to shake off this feeling of knowing I am going to lose everytime with the best hand. This has nothing to do with the game, it has to do with me.

Hey DrMcBoy I guess you were right one more time. After this thread and everyones comments, I reviewed my game again and forgot completely about the running cards. I saw clearly that I was not playing the table enough, especially in the mid game, so relying on cards too much is not the best way to play.

So, I played better and made 4 final tables in 4 consecutive days (5th, 2nd, 7th, 11th) . I also played the Weekdays 30K yesterday (I won a seat in a sattelite) and ended up 59th (eliminated with the best hand of course, called a shove w AQs, villain had ATo) The finishing position and the bad beat is not the point, me playing good poker and being first 20 the whole time is.

How is that for a bad beat thread ?
