Well on the one hand there is enough proof around for people to catch back up, but on the short term the whole world would come to a standstill, as people have forgotten how to read, what everything around them is, what their jobs are etc. There will be no more power, probably catastrophies and cavemen-like banding and warring going on. So there isn't too much for one person to do, I'd just do what everyone would do in this situation, use my superior knowledge, ability to read etc, and gain quick status and power and wealth and all that jazz.

Obviously, you're thread JVP :P, but I was thinking about how much power, wealth, and jazz you would manage to pull together.

I think I'd immediately go down to the gun club and get the keys to the gun lockers. That plus the ammo on site, all I'd have to do is figure out how to pull together an army.

I don't think you can enforce it. People will catch on too quickly. Dan probably nailed it, start a religion, you can impress people early on with your superior world knowledge. Then just make sure you plug in all the mind control tactics known to man. Lots of rituals, social pressure, embarass (lower self-esteem) new members into conviction, promise people greatness if they stick to your religion.. and most importantly make sure your religion is self-replicating, ie has a dogma that involves converting new members. Then hope it sticks.
