6th hand. villain had been in one hand exc big blind, but nth to tell from that.
from all i ve read on here, i ve been wanting to improve my thinking on the board. plan on flop was to bet enough leaving a pot bet on turn. not sure if that was wise now. should i have slowed down if an ace or king had come?
or, could have bet less on flop, ~200, then if he floats i can bet turn and allow myself to get out if check raised. wouldve put about 50% of my stack in tho by this point so that aint great either.

could someone enlighten me pls?

looks great. pre I don't think anyone really knows what is optimal**, so I would extend the same thinking you did on flop - guess one caller and then raise enough so you can get it in on flop+turn.

**for example, this play allows any PP to make a +EV call once one other player flats I think. You're almost always going to get stacked when he makes a set - and when it comes A/Kxx with his set he'll often stack someone else even if you get away. But in order to price out the PP in MP3's hand (or MP2 w/e) , you would have to make a super large raise that would probably result in everyone playing their hand perfectly against you which can't be right either.

reads help here but someone competent is calling AJ and better hands. You are folding most worse hands and never folding better.

Sometimes I bet half my stack on the turn and get the other half in on the river, but this is fine too.

Why?

because plenty of cards come that will kill action, and because of the number of people who fold to double-barrels. TT/99/8x will often peel one and re-eval on turn, folding when you shove. if you shove the flop it looks FOS and they'll level themselves into calling.

I'd make it 180-200 pre, you'll typically get at least one caller at these limits.

As played I'd bet flop slightly larger as well and now just shove turn
