    Was just watching live footage on BBC website. You can see a guy in a car driving away from the wall of water/mud/houses which ate chasing after him. He's on the road that heads sort of diagonally away from the wave, and then you see the water hit the road maybe 200 yards ahead of him and it starts flooding toward him, so hes cut off. Then the footage cuts out. Didn't look good for him.

    This doesn't seem to happen on my fb, its all "our hearts are with the victims" or "I am praying for ..." I feel like if I posted a joke it would be seen as inappropriate by most. Just shows that England is a narcissistic asshole, and America is clearly one too but likes to pretend not to be.

    Nothing wrong with cracking jokes. It's not like I have more than a minimal amount of power to influence events over there (donations), why not steal a quick chuckle at no expense?

    The only reason you don't like it is because it understandably offends you on some level (as some things do tend to do) but your sense of offense isn't a good measuring stick for right and wrong.

    FWIW I was genuinely curious about whether or not other cultures did it.. I'm not offended by it, I have no feelings either way, however considering the severity of the situation I just really didn't wanna come across as callous.
