    Windows 7 Professional Upgrade $29.99 (.edu email required)

    Windows 7 for $30 once your kid has a .edu email address. That should save you $110 over your build above.

    Technically, you're supposed to have XP or Vista or some previous form of windows, but there are ways to get around that. Or, you can just temporarily install XP from one of the old computers or something.

    I just stumbled upon the workaround today... such an awesome deal. Apparently MS isn't even doing anything to stop it since technically people who own legit upgradable XP/Vista licenses should be able to do this. And theres really no way to allow them to do it and keep non license holders from using the workaround as well.
