    Default WSOPE ME Final Table

Currently 3 left - Hellmuth, Baranov and Albertini. Hellmuth has a smallish chip lead and Albertini is shortish.

Lots of big games bust already, including Cheong in 4th, Brammer in 5th and Mercier in 8th.

    Live stream on Eurosport

Heard from a friend that Hellmuth has been making some terrible plays...

Agree completely with this. I understand if he's meant to have some sort of irritating "media face", but he takes it way too far. The clip where Hellmuth calls someone an idiot over and over for outplaying him really irritates me. If he was at my table I would do everything I could to make him explode just for my pure entertainment so I could have a big argument with him.

Hahah what is Hellmuth doing?! Bet/calls bottom pair with 42 on 259J and hits a 2 on the river against JT. Also peeled a short stacks open with 74o...

Obviously that P. Helmuth is the best poker player, proved by winning two bracelets WSOP this year

Honestly I think Hellmuth winning is good for poker. We need superstars to attract more amateurs back into the game and he's one of few who is capable of becoming one. And keep in mind this is coming from someone Phil has berated twice because I was beating him.

I agree he's a superstar - his results make him one, the figures are ridiculous - but I'm not sure that his attitude is good for poker. I guess he's one of those "love them or hate them" characters who can cause controversy and get people to talk about poker, but listening to him whine makes for awful TV. I turned off the live stream after about 30 minutes because he just irritated me too much.

Be interesting to see what the upcoming UB documentary has to say about him

for every 10 people he brings to the game, 2 of them are dbs, but 9.6 of them suck so it's worth it.

I don't understand how someone can b/c bottom pair on turn and is considered best in the world. For sure I'd like to get into an argument with him at the table for entertainment, but I have a nagging feeling it would affect my game more than his. So I'd probably smile at him and tell him how nice it is to be berated by the world's best if he had a moan, then try to take his chips off him.

my 1st wife never bitched as much as him. the mans a good player, but bhis attitude stinks. every game ive ever watched on tv, he always got to moan , think its part off his game to rile players up.

... BUT have you paid attention to the way his friends and colleagues talk about his personality away from the table? I hope that the people in my life have as much respect for me, without question. Even Daniel Negreanu (his biggest critic at the table) has given him props for playing to his advantage of talking enough smack to make his opponents make mistakes against him.

I'd never say that Phil plays his hands optimally, but NLHE is a game of many, many skills. If his greatest skill is not ranges and value bets, then so what? Who is to say what the "right" way to win is? It seems to me that 13 bracelets speaks for itself, and we could all stand to learn how to talk smack a little better... maybe not to the extreme that Phil takes it, but it is clearly a large part of at least 1 winning strategy.

honestly i'm not personally convinced that it's all a strategic tilt-inducing mechanism and not just phil himself being an egomaniacal tilt monkey, at least some of the time.

Yah I'm pretty sure it's not part of a tilt-inducing strategy & much more likely just Phil unable to contain himself. Wonder how much he invested wtih that mindset coach last year?

I actually wanted him to win. And Cheong.... not so much. I'm not a real Subiime fan.
WTG Phil!! Take it to those 'Norther Euro Donks'. Did any of them say to him, "How the ___ did you call me with that?!?!"

Wow, basically missed the October 9 totally. Don't even know who won still. Will watch the TV shows when they get released though, normally plenty of laughs.
