    As for the other, the obvious answer is as you say - that you lost a few pots, and it had to be by folding since you had only shown down 1 hand.

    This might be relevant because of what the villain has seen. You've put money into a number of pots then subsequently folded. You don't say how many times, but it doesn't seem unreasonable that he might figure you for someone who folds a lot to aggression.
