	There were a few guys I used to jam with that could play the piece in a perfect rendition, and I saw much virtuosity in those, usually private, performances.

 I never got my chops up to play it through perfectly.  There are some weird things he did with alternate fingerings which change 2 or 3 times within a measure just to accommodate the extra embellishments which make every repeat different.  There are chorded slides and half muted sections... It really demands you know all the basic sounds and tricks with a guitar to pull it off.
 
 I agree that it's not a "Virtuoso" piece, a la music theory, especially in presentation as a punkish pop-rock song.  I.e. it's no Andres Segovia, but that's comparing apples to orange flames on a hot rod.
