From my experience, i tell new players to learn the basics by playing Online. Live play can be a bit overwhelming if new to the game, specially if the people you're playing against are not friends. Online is much faster paced than Live action, as you can multi table online. Each has its upside and downside. live play you can get paid right there and then and have cash in pocket, online you gotta wait. Also some people dont live close to a casino or have many friends that play poker on a regular basis, so online is really their only way of playing.

remember that players from all around the world read these forums and cashout problems facing US players do not apply to most of the major sites available to ROW players with cashouts pretty much instanteous.

this is interesting. as an online poker player who haven't experienced playing live poker, i thought it's the other way around. your opponents being able to see your movement and facial reaction is (for me) intimidating. where as in online, you can shout and curse your opponents anytime you want

that's actually what im doing right now and it makes me feel relief that someone thinks the same.
how can you face the problem if the problem is your face?

I play both (although more online as of late) and there is definitely a difference in skill level.
The local charity/ casino games in my area play much softer than the average .10/.25NL online.
