gabe has proven himself as a wolf time and again, there's no reason for him to be butthurt over a bad game to the point of mixing his game up with weirdness.

Nah, it's much more likely imo that he's wolf again and his immediate concern is how suspicious he looked last game. I don't see why he'd be in this frame of mind if he opened up a villager role pm.
