    Part of why DD is so much fun is because the central game-design principle seems to be to throw tons of variance at the player and challenge them to limit and control the variance.

    It's a pretty nice fit for a poker player.

    Yup, totally loving this game after having it for just a few days.

    There's a layering of the variance that's pretty cool - e.g., you first have x% chance to 'hit' the opponent, then iff you hit them you do i-j worth of damage, and whether or not you do DOT is also variable by player and enemy. It makes it pretty much impossible to devise a perfect plan that will see you through an entire battle.

    Add to that all the other perks - the retro, cheesy-but-oh-so-polished graphics, the music, etc.

    I have to say the best part of the feel comes from the narrator though - that voice and that script are both just so awesome.

    "In time, you will know the tragic extent of my failings." lol
