Default Get rich quick schemes (are bulls**t LDO)

Ok. so this is kind of random but that's what the commune is for and it puts me on life tilt so hard.

My dad is convinced by these
    "hey you!"
    "me?"
    "yea wanna get magically rich?"
    "yea I guess"
"Cool well you don't have to invest anything or have any skills and it's not your fault if you are poor / unhappy / whatev. Also u make $700 / h"
"Sick son, sign me up! for only $xx.xx"

Recently he has discovered the interwebs.. Oh fuck right? So he constantly has me reading this shit. He gets pissed off whenever I doubt his belief in some new heal all medicine or think this type of shit is a scam. Any advice? (I'm kind of just posting this for your entertainment too)

remember a line from somewhere (here?) that if an ad says something IS NOT your fault ... IT IS. ie. It's not your fault you took out a huge loan you couldn't afford. We save you now! type of crap.

Tell your dad to email me regarding a large sum of money I have tied up in a bank account which I will need his help in getting released. There will be a substantial reward in it for him for very little effort on his part.

about 2 years late; good advice though. meh. Yea it is really quite futile. Either listen to shit that you know is shit or get in argument with someone who doesn't accept logic. It really blows when you are under the same roof.

Oh god MLM... I know a chick who is convinced she is going to be able to retire in 6 months off residual income from "her business" (some MLM bs). It's a shame really, she is an interesting person, but every time we hang out it seems to turn into a business meeting.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

I can only hope that Donald Trump goes to jail for his involvement with the ACN crap.

My brother in-law is jacked up about that "business opportunity" at the moment. He must have spent around $2-3K to date on fees and trips to "conferences". He feels it must be legit if Trumpy is involved.

It's been about 9 months. I think he got a couple of cheques back for $6 so far.

One of my friend's family is the most back-asswards fundie retard teabagging inbred folk the world has ever known, and I recall hearing how the patriarch of this family got hooked into a scheme where he paid a guy money and received coupons in return. He never got as much in coupons as he gave in money, but it was okay because other people were giving the guy money and receiving coupons too

Some people live Homer Simpson's grease/bacon enterprise quite literally

Oh yeah, and the explanation for the scheme had something to do with the double helix and how DNA is good investment advice or something

My grandpa buys into this sort of shit all the time too. Every so often he realizes he didn't get his money back out of the last scheme, and quickly finds another. My dad and I used to argue, but eventually gave up.

Now he's almost 90 and is still living off of his Air Force retirement every month.

But his newest business opportunity? It's surely going to pay off!!

Get hold an episode of "The Real Hustle" (2006) and show him.

Every scheme works on pretty much the same principle. Prey on vulnerable people, get them to see themselves rich and then milk them for all they are worth. Pretty sick IMO.

I learned the hard way and quickly realised what was happening. I guess some people do and some don't. It's lucky for us or there wouldn't be any fish at the poker tables .... seeing themselves rich ..... sound familiar?

Gonna check out that series on netflix then. Might be entertaining. Nice analogy regarding "life fish" and "poker fish" if you will. I can understand doing it wrong once.. but in the words of George W Bush: "Fool me once; shame on you. Fool me twice; uh-er... YA don't fool me AGAIN." Ya I guess some people just don't learn. But I'd like my explanations which were (gave up) logical and thought out as to why Bill Jones doesn't give a shit about you and will not make you millions to be listened to . No one sells millions to strangers for cheap.

You still playings any SNG / knockout games?

haha. amazing word choice there in bold. Yea the explanations are pretty funny. But the thing about DNA causing the executives at Walmart to give you free money are true. It's cuz there's a double helix strand . . .

Please show me how to do ev calculation as to whether trading 200$ for 99.99$ in various coupons for 99cents each is profiable.

Meh, randomly see "Mega get rich etc etc" a couple channels below comedy central so I click on it (excited as hell mind you). So awful.. it is funny until you realize they are actually making money. A bunch of old people (all over 50) standing and applauding on another for "making" 40K last month blah blah blah. ZERO, not one word, explanation of what they're doing. Just pay Bob 200.. no wait 37 <--ok cool number, dollars.

Anyone interested in starting one of these scams; now THAT could be profitable with the number of "back-asswards fundie retard teabagging inbred folk the world has ever known[s]" there are in the world. Who's in

Being able to mock something doesn't make that something baseless.

edit wait until they get into the MLM schemes and then show them the math on how many levels of the pyramid can exist before the base requires more people than exist in the world.

Or show them the episode of Bullshit on fast money. S08E05

Yeah, the $16s. I had to prove how big my balls were after I ran over 100 BI bad over 2k of tourneys. Should luckbox my way into the high orbit board this week. Competition is tough in these these days; you have to table select well or you'll land at a table fill of tagg regs.

I played some KOs recently, but I noticed the $27 KOs were gone. They did take forever to fill up, but fishy as hell. I still play the $13.50 KOs from time to time but the non-turbo format doesn't really suit me that well.

Oh god help me. They have their first recruitment meeting here tonight and are expecting me to be here. I never even had the chance to reject them, they just talk like I will be here. If I ever see Donald Trump I will fuck him up.

They have had the ACN video phone hooked up for 3 days now and still have not used it, because nobody else has one except a bunch of ACN people that are all to busy trying to find more recruits to talk on it.

That behemoth is one of the stupidest, most ill-timed things I've ever seen.

Webcam + Skype >>>>>>>>>>>>> Huge video phone incompatible with any other video delivery system

Meh donkaments . You run under a similar name on PS right? My name is the same as here. I play 13.50s and a few 27s. doing pretty well at 13.50s. Also you might have a filter on or something because the 27s are 100% there and they have been whenever I've looked. enjoyed your vids on grinderschool 3 or 4 months ago; taught me alot ty

have fun at your recruitment meeting jyms!
