Default how to eat a chicken wing

Might be old, but if you're not aware of it, it's pretty dam amazing. I'll never eat a chicken wing any other way again.

This is fucking high maintenance bullshit.

Take the flattie. Insert the whole thing in your mouth end first. Suck off the meat as you pull the bones out. Done.

Who eat around the bones like it's corn on the cob?

ya, pretty much what benny said... the only way you can fail is if you leave like half the meat on the bones. Instead of wiggling each bone out, just eat some meat, split the bones, then eat the rest of the meat off the two bones...

BTW, does anyone else flip flop on which wings they like better? Sometimes I just love the drummettes, but sometimes I prefer the wingettes... rarely do I ever sit down to eat some wings and feel indifferent, I always have a strong preference for one over the other, but it constantly changes from one to the other.

Boost, I'm the same with my preferences, only they change while I'm eating. It's because the flat wing bits are more delicate and tender, but so little meat is there it leaves you unsatisfied, whilst the drum bits give a larger mouthful but tend to be a bit dryer and less tender imo.

Definitely going to try this. Next is the hardest part: picking the best kind of dipping sauce.
  21. #21
What Benny said for sure. When I eat wings I don't have time to be playing with bones. If I spent time picking out the bones like this vid I could probably eat 20-25 before I was full. If I just slam them like Benny said, I get 40-50 down. Don't take time to breathe or pick at bones, it's -EV on the wings/hr.
  22. #22
Actually, if you became skilled at this method, I bet you could pound way more wings/hr. But you would have to assembly line it, debone them all, then eat, instead of debone, eat, debone, eat, etc.

No way on the boneless, the skin to bone to meat to fat ratios are not good with the boneless.

Well, that's nice that you would say that, but this isn't a matter of opinion... they are the muscle under the breast known as the tender... Nuggets are generally ground processed meat, this is generally not the case with "boneless wings."

  32. #32
I can't understand breading on chicken wings at all... they nearly are always just collections of extra grease that give you short-term stomach cancer... The whole point is the natural crispy awesomeness of the wings. This inherently excludes all boneless wings, but is more specific about why they suck so much.
So you click their picture and then you get their money?
  33. #33
Ya, I can eat like 5 breaded wings buffalo wings, then I just feel like ass. TBH though, my favorite wings are grilled. Only been to a few places that grill them.. but they are 10000x better than fried imo.

i typically make wings at home, but when i go to BWW, i get hot wings Ricky Bobby style. They fry them, sauce them, then throw them on the grill for a minute or 2. Soooooooooo good.

In the next 10 minutes, I would like someone to make me faux-maki rolls with rice on the outside, mango and a big chunk of saucy chicken wing, the whole thing rolled in crunched up potato chips. I don't know what to use instead of nori around the mango and wing to hold it together. Figure it out.

Do this now and +rep is in your future. Go.

Why don't you give this a try: It is called inari zushi. Instead of seaweed, seasoned soy bean pockets are used for the outside skin. You can buy them in cans at asian stores. Some Americans call them 'footballs' because they're shaped like miniature footballs.

Here's a link to a decent recipe that you can use as a guide for the mango, rice & chicken that you wish to use instead.:Inarizushi: sushi in a bean bag | Just Hungry

I settled for japchae but I appreciate the thought. In theory, I shouldn't slum with someone with two red boxes but I never did do anything my mother said anyway.

    Love me for a season
I like to eat the thing whole and crunch down the bones like a savage. It's not good news for the morning deuce but what can you do.

Edit: I call total bullshit on this technique. I have a box of wings right here and a wingette in my hand. There is no little flap of cartillage that I can just pull off, on either side, but rather just the ends of each boneI don't know what wings you have in the US or how the anatomy of a chicken can differ, but there is no way this is working for me.

    EDIT 2
I managed to eventually remove the small bone but the bigger bone can't be removed because the only thing you can grab to leverage it out is the end of the same bone wtf??
  48. #48
see the part of the video where he says the method only works if your chicken is cooked right lol....probably got some nasty wings...ive done this multiple places and it works every time

Finally had some wings, AWESOMENESS CONFIRMED.

Point to note: some removed bones may still have chicken attached.

And you could argue that just removing the smaller of the bones is enough to drastically improve eating efficiency. Makes it kinda like a drum.

^ This, I can eat wings almost everyday easily. I don't, but I could. I think an even split of Wings/steak and salad would be a perfect meal rotation.

This reminds me of an old neighbour of mine who ate steak every other day, and on the other days chicken. He died recently of colon cancer at a relatively young age. YMMV.

I hear you but just looking at the guy you felt he was damn unhealthy, and I was surprised it wasn't a heart attack that killed him. Besides colon cancer has been shown to be tied to certain diets, and more common in developed countries (i.e. places where you have access to lots of meat).

Colorectal cancer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Diet: Studies show that a diet high in red meat[9] and low in fresh fruit, vegetables, poultry and fish increases the risk of colorectal cancer. In June 2005, a study by the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition suggested that diets high in red and processed meat, as well as those low in fiber, are associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer.
Jyms eats salad though, so he'll be fine.

Yeah, but if you really understood the hows or whys of cancer, your mind would be in sweet demand. It's too easy to fall into logical trappings with something as sideways as cells broken in such a way as to grow into cancer.

Anyway, I'm not equipped to correct you on how colon cancer is affected by a red meat heavy diet. I at least understand why having a lot of cholesterol causes heart infarctions, attacks, failures etc. But I think cancer is something less understood.

studies suggest smokers die of lung cancer more often than non-smokers.
studies suggest people who are chronic drinkers or have hep c are at risk of developing liver cancer.
studies suggest people who were exposed to radiation from the chernobyl disaster had a high rate of cancer death.

of course we don't know the hows and whys, but i'd say there are enough observable patterns being made by intelligent people?

my educated guess on the way colon cancer being tied to diet is that your poo gets hard from a meat-heavy diet and causes constipation, leading to toxins staying in that area for longer than people who have regular poos.

And this is snake-oil-salesman-eqsue. It's an understanding with no reason why it should be the understanding.

A lot of people understand why lowering cholesterol in your blood lowers your risk for a heart attack. The mechanisms that underlie the process are understood.

But cancer isn't as easily understood as "that buildup in your bloodstrem breaks off a piece and cuts off blood flow to the muscles of your heart."

It's more of, "as your cells rebuild themselves, they don't do it right and become cancer instead."

You could say that it's because of a high redmeat low fruit diet, when it could really be because of a lower fiber diet, or because of a high exposure to preservatives, or something else.

I'm not discounting the studies, I'm just discounting the claim that "studies show a diet high in red meat and low in fruit runs a markedly higher risk of getting cancer is reason enough to say eating steak/chicken on a 2 night cycle will probably get you colon cancer."

You may want to go a littel farther than Wikipedia for your medical advice too. It's not the protien that causes the problem, it's the whole diet. Refined carbs, fatty meat and lack of good fiber type fruits and veggies. Typically high calorie, no substance foods. I eat a gram of protein per pound of body weight, but I bet my calorie/carbohydrate counts are way under most colerectal cancer type diets.
