Late twenties, early thirties, after you've completed your edumacation, travelled, done all sorts of wild shit/fucked a lot of women and got your career on track. Too many guys 'settle down' too young and pay for it for the rest of their lives, usually in alimony and child support. I don't think men really mature until they reach 30.
Good, good advice... If you want to get married, do NOT get married until your late 20s.. and for the LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY... don't have kids until you've been married for a good long while. I love my wife and love my kids, but life would've been so incredible easier to deal with had we made some better decisions.

He decided not to go through with it after he discover she was a virgin and he didn't die in the garage. You're thinking of a scene before that.

Yeah, I was the exact same age as the protagonist, in the same profession (advertising, not fast food), and my ex was fucking around with a slimy real estate agent.

To each their own. I think meaningful tattoos have some merit. Cliche tattoos are just that (tribal armbands, for example - u so tough, u and a million other guys).

If you want a serious career in business, you should be able to hide any tattoo you get, and any woman that gets a tattoo should think about how crappy it's gonna look in their wedding pictures if it's in the wrong place. I don't get the ankle/calf tats either - you're gonna look great in stilettos at that important business reception, baby.

I watch LA Ink and Miami Ink sometimes and think some of those tats are amazing and done for the right reasons.

    No, I don't have any.

How was your sex life with your ex wife over the years? Started good? How fast did it dwindle?

Did she ever interrupt lovemaking because she was worried about you spilling something on the couch?

How is your sex life now? How badly did kids fuck up your sex life? Have you ever had a concubine?

I have lots of questions, yeah

I could eat anything without gaining weight until I was about 27-ish. Life's too short to not enjoy what you're eating (or to drink bad wine), but it obv makes sense to eat a reasonably healthy diet.

Your exercise routine should be something you enjoy, too. If you don't like blasting at the gym, get on a bike, walk, skate, whatever. Moderate exercise is all you need to stay healthy. If you want to look like a Men's Health cover model, well, vanity has its price.

Men and women are both generally bad at sex until the take the time to learn and get some skillz. In any monogamous relationship, I think the sex dwindles if it gets boring, so ya gotta spice it up.

My ex had 'issues' in that area, among many others, so that's all I'll say on that subject, other than that I'm glad she's an 'ex'.

My current sex life is just fine, tyvm.

At what point in a marriage to do decide you can no longer "work things out" and opt for divorce? How much did concerns about its affect on your children weigh on your decision?

Do you think an independent MAN-cation (or the female equivalent) is a good thing for a person and therefore good for a family, or is it shallow and selfish?

I think you weigh divorce when you've done everything you can to 'work things out' but it still isn't happening and you can longer visualize yourself being happy with that person. Divorces happen for many reasons, and they're tougher when they involve kids, but in my case at least I made the choice that I'd rather have my kids grow up in two happy households than one unhappy one.

I think needing separate vacations can be a bad sign but it's also healthy to take a break with the boys and get some perspective.

You'll figger it out. Play the cards you're dealt.

Edit: Just realize that having a kid changes your life completely and you'll have to make a lot of sacrifices/compromises. Don't expect your relationship after the kid arrives to be the same as it was, and don't think she's being a bitch because she's making more demands on you. She's a mom and she needs help cause it's a tough job.

No wonder you took offence to my post.

FWIW my parent s have been married for 34 years, were married younger than you, and they get along good. So i guess its not quite as bad as i make it out to be..lol.

Good luck with the marriage and the kid.

That's great to hear, but I've also heard stories from people who really resented having the parents that gave them up come looking for them. As I said, I've left my contact info where it can be found if he wants to look for me.

There's all sorts of self-help stuff out there ranging from practical to business focussed to religous to uber flakey, but here's a funky blog I've recently discovered that I quite admire. He's a young guy but I like his approach to life.

I think your decision to not try and find your kid is the right one def. I wasnt adopted, my dad was around for the most part when I grew up, but hes a pretty shitty person imo. I havent talked to him in probably 8 years or more and dont really care to. Theres not really much emotion involved on my end, I just dont care to interact with the person. Its extremely annoying anytime that he tries to contact me. He had his chance, now Im an adult, I dont and never did owe anything to him.
You-- yes, you-- you're a cunt.

    Great thread, Warpe.

I also admire your decision not to contact your biological son, but that you've left the door open by keeping your contact info available if he ever changes his mind. I'm the father of two, an adopted daughter and a biological son. We have always left the door open for my daughter's biological mother to contact us, but it has not happened since her first birthday. We still send pictures and other things through the agency, but we've been informed that they've had no contact with her in the past 7 years.

In and of itself, this both gives me relief and pain. Relief that she is moving on with her life, and pain that my daughter may never be able to seek her out if she has such a need. It's a bundle of emotions that can't be put to words.

Zing!, wow, hmmmm...This adoption thing is kinda...........IDK, Overwhelming? I used to think that i really needed to know who my wifes "real" parents were, and then I found out that I really didnt want to know who they were after we knew who they were. i dont know how to describe it, other than I think It was the best decision her young parents made, for her to be adopted.
