This is the exact reason why I hate taking my kids to the park. I can just see helping a crying kid off the top of the monkey bars and his dad shows up on my doorstep 2 hours later saying his kid told him I touched his pee-pee. What are you supposed to say to something like that?

Yeah, it's reeeeeeeeeeeeeaally bad. Especially in cases that involve children or women alleged rape. If you wanna get paranoid as fuck, read about what I believe were the Kern county molestation convictions in the 80s (I may have gotten the county wrong, bvut the rest of the details are correct)

Basically, about a dozen people, some husbands and wives, were convicted of child molestation, and served over a collective 100 years in prison before being found innocent and released. Two of them died in prison.

The cops basically railroaded them so bad by ignoring all the evidence and forcing false confessions from their kids so badly that even one of the kids today actually believes he was molested even though he has no recollection of it and the evidence shows that he wasn't molested. None of them were

One of the kids, twenty years later with his own family, said that he's often afraid of his own son because he remembers how badly he was manipulated by the cops to believe something that didn't happen when he was like seven years old, and destroy many peoples' lives because of it

Molestation and rape are terrible, but an staggering number of people convicted of it are innocent. It's such a monstrous topic in the public's mind that simply being accused = guilty. I remember reading a case a few months ago about a man who was released after five years in prison when the woman who claimed he raped her came out saying it was a lie because she didn't want her friends to think she was a whore. She completely ruined that man's life, yet all she got was a slap on the wrist

Seriously, in so many places in the US, all it takes to spend your life in prison is a woman accusing you of raping her. It's disgusting. Actually, it's worse than disgusting.
