The Bodog Poker Open V shot out of the gate Sunday evening with three tournaments: two in the Championship Series and one Contender Series event. The inaugural tournament for the BPOV was a $100+$9 No Limit Hold’em Championship Series Event that featured an additional $15,000 in the prize pool. “Whitey1207”  took the top spot, earning over $13,000 and a seat in the Championship Series Main Event.  They were followed by “billsg702,”  who got $8,496 while “crappy player” proved that their screen name was a lie by coming in third and getting over $5,300 for their efforts.

The second Championship Series event was a $20,000 Guaranteed Turbo Tournament. The fast-paced event was designed specifically for the aggressive high rollers that have discovered that Bodog offers some of the best action going. First prize and $17,039.20 went to “johall111” who also won a seat into the BPOV Main Event.  “PokerAce733” came in as the runner-up, earning $9,8419.20 for their efforts while “The Destroyer” took third place and $6,570.20.

The third event on the schedule yesterday kicked off the Bodog Poker Open V’s Contender Series, a parallel to the Championship Series that opens up the action to more players with lower buy-ins and the same great action. Contender Series Event #1 was a $7,500 Guaranteed No Limit Hold’em Tournament where the winner also won a spot at the Bodog Poker Open V Main Event along with their share of the prize pool. “KoolP456” won first place and got $1,781.80.  They were followed by  “S O A Up,” whose second-place finish earned them $1,026.80 and the top three was rounded out Michigander’s $687.05 for third.

While the Contender Series offer up great action for players of all types, the Championship Series is where the real action is happening as everything leads up to massive $200,000 guaranteed tournament on October 3. This event will see more than just a sizeable addition to some lucky player’s bankroll; they’ll earn a spot in the Bodog Poker Open Hall Of Fame along and an extra-special bonus: an engraved Corum Romulus Chronograph valued at over $5,000.
