Poker and online gaming in general has hit a rough patch in America. The federal government is cracking down on gamblers and payment processors. Poker players may remember when both Paypal and NETELLER left the American market after being targeted by the American federal government. This week, ewalletXpress, the largest payment processor to continue processing transactions between players in the United States and gambling websites, closed its doors to American players.

American users that logged into their accounts last Friday may have noticed that no more banking options were left for deposits. Additionally, it was said that ewalletXpress was having technical difficulties and would return soon. Since then, there has been no official statement or explanation. It has been rumored that ewalletXpress has sent an email on Tuesday to merchants that reads: “We regret to inform you that we are no longer able to continue service at this time due to a federal warrant issued to seize our funds.” This means that the money that any American had on the website may soon be in the hands of the American government.

Both the Cake and Merge poker networks used ewalletXpress; Cake Poker used it for deposits and withdrawals while Merge Poker limited its use to deposits. As of now, no American is allowed to withdraw any money they had in the ewallet. When NETELLER left the American market, all players received their funds directly from the owners after a short wait. There is no telling what will happen with players’ money left on ewalletXpress.
