With FTOPS XXI now a week old, some people seem to have the impression that they can no longer win their seats in the remaining events via satellites. Well the truth is, you can still qualify for more than half of the events included in this year’s FTOPS series by playing in affordable tournaments.

Each of Saturday’s events had a respective guarantee of $100,000 and things got going early. The action began at 11am EST with a NL Hold’em, Heads Up tournament that had a buy-in of $500 + $35 and 301 players. Next up, beginning five hours later, was a PL Omaha Hi, 6-Max, Triple Chance tourney with a buy-in of $300 + $22 and more than 530 competitors. The day’s last event, a NL Hold’em, Rush tournament, started at 5pm EST and had the lowest buy-in of the day’s three competitions: $200 + $16. Event #16 had 905 participants and ended with the final two players making a deal.
With everyone competing for more than prize money – everyone who makes it to the final table in an FTOPS event earns a limited edition FTOPS jacket, and event champions receive a gold jersey and gold jersey-clad avatar – it is easy to understand why champions were not crowned in events #14 – #16 until many talented players were eliminated.
