Just 2 games left in season 6 of the Gauntlet, and in game 23 we saw more people retire. 12 in total came to play, which is actually more than I had thought would show up, and we had a lot of donking around. If you are not sure what the Gauntlet is, be sure to click on the word “Gauntlet” to find out and register. Basically, it is FTR’s own private league where we donk around and have fun. You will see in a lot of the hand histories there is some bashing/talking, and that’s because we all know each other and have a good time. If you haven’t already, register and play with us next game. After reading the summary, make sure to see who won this games award for “lol cooleraments” which will be the cooler of the night, “wtf was he thinking” which will be the questionable play of the night, along with “beat of the night” which will be the worst beat.

The players that went all-in for the last time this game included biondino (efil4elbmow), Bender50, and Shifubowa. After this game, there would now be 10 people with at least all 12 games played. There should however still be some action for the final game of the season because there are still 6-7 people with 11 games, and many others with 9-10 who want to squeeze in one final victory. Let’s have a look at the leaderboard and any changes prior to game 23:

FTR Name – GP – Points / Change
Jimmy Mac – 12 – 811.15 / 0
spin_md – 12 – 693.36 / +1
givememyleg – 12 – 637.11 / -1
ackthecat – 12 – 593.15 / -1
kmind – 9 – 550.26 / +2
Isop – 10 – 533.99 / +5
Fimanoid – 12 – 529.45 / -2
Bender50 – 11 – 517.03 / +1
Shifubowa – 11 – 514.28 / -3
I Like Pie – 11 – 513.54 / 0

There was still plenty of movement around the leaderboard, as was expected the last few games. Spin went out with a bang, winning his final game and took over 2nd place. (that luckbox!) Kmind and Isop also have had a pretty impressive season thus far, being in 5th – 6th place with only 9 and 10 games, respectively. They both were playing today, along with courtiebee and a few other regulars. Let’s see how these 13 players can move the chips!

Saying the action started out fast would be an understatement. Just the second hand into the tournament and we already had our first all-in:

Shifubowa collected 3080 from pot

Very bad luck for Bender there! QQ against AA is a pretty big cooler, especially on that flop. I bet Bender had other plans for his last game of the season, but alas, he went out just the second hand in, in 12th place. If you thought the action was done there, you were wrong. Moving to the other table, just the 3rd hand in, Curtom caught the crazy Jishu (reidak) with his pants around his ankles:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
geno9: folds
efil4elbmow: folds

*** SHOW DOWN ***
reidak: shows [7d Ks] (high card Ace)
Curtom: shows [Kh Jd] (a straight, Ten to Ace)
Curtom collected 2890 from pot

Pretty nice when you flop the nuts and have someone else raising! This left Jishu with 90 chips and an “oops” feeling in his stomach. However, would you be surprised if I told you he wasn’t the next one out? Well, just ONE hand later, we had some more Shifubowa action:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
toddanderson: folds
courtiebee: folds
Shifubowa: raises 60 to 80
hershy253: folds
DCMirage: raises 60 to 140
Shifubowa: raises 2884 to 3024 and is all-in

toddanderson said, “wow”

Wow indeed! Just 5 hands in and Shifubowa had already eliminated two people. He already had over 4500 chips! That Q on the river sent DC out in 11th place. However, he has one final game left this season, so I hope to see him for game 24! Back to the other table, the mega short stack Jishu would start pushing every hand with his 90 chips, and would seem to go on a small heater:

*** HOLE CARDS ***

Up to around 400 chips from 90 isn’t too bad! Meanwhile, kmind (toddanderson) came to play, and so did Gauntlet newcomer Hershy:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
toddanderson said, “really?…what about wed.?”
toddanderson: raises 46 to 66
courtiebee: folds
Shifubowa: calls 66

*** SHOW DOWN ***

toddanderson: shows [Ah 6d] (three of a kind, Sixes)
toddanderson collected 1438 from pot

Hershy didn’t bet enough to get kmind to fold (doubt that donk can fold anyway!) and kmind won a nice pot early on. Shif was just dominating the game early on, and was winning every pot he was involved in. It was just then that hershy had to make a point that he wouldn’t be pushed around:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
toddanderson: folds
courtiebee: folds
Shifubowa: raises 80 to 100
hershy253: calls 90
efil4elbmow: folds
*** FLOP *** [2c 8s 2h]

hershy253: raises 644 to 844 and is all-in
Shifubowa: folds
hershy253 collected 620 from pot
hershy253: doesn’t show hand

We switch to table 2 to see geno looking down at KK. But one thing players learn early on is that kings are an ace magnet, much to his dismay:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
reidak: folds
geno9: raises 40 to 60
Tchrsmth: folds
Curtom: folds
Isopbc: calls 40

Isopbc: shows [Ac 6h] (two pair, Aces and Jacks)
Isopbc collected 930 from pot

Isop didn’t believe the raise and called with his ace. Back to the other table, we see that Shif wasn’t going anywhere, and likes flopping the nuts:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
efil4elbmow: folds
toddanderson: raises 46 to 66
courtiebee: folds
Shifubowa: calls 56
hershy253: calls 46

toddanderson: shows [8c 7h] (two pair, Eights and Sevens)

Shifubowa collected 838 from pot

Another big pot and he was off to a dashing start as the chip leader. The donk who was second in chips, kmind, was also at the same table, and he played a hand with courtie who tried to get cute:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
hershy253: folds
efil4elbmow: folds
courtiebee said, “nhnh”
toddanderson: raises 36 to 66
toddanderson said, “thanks nf”
courtiebee: calls 51

If she re-raises preflop she might make more! Shif was running well, but then he just started to get crazy:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
toddanderson: raises 58 to 88
courtiebee: folds
Shifubowa: calls 88

Shifubowa: calls 144
*** SHOW DOWN ***

Shifubowa: mucks hand
toddanderson collected 509 from pot

Shif mucked JACK high there, quite the gift for kmind! Shif also wasn’t done there, he wanted to give a little more money to kmind:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Shifubowa: raises 90 to 120
hershy253: folds
efil4elbmow: folds
toddanderson: raises 191 to 311
courtiebee: folds

toddanderson: shows [Ad As] (three of a kind, Aces)
Shifubowa: shows [9s Tc] (high card Ace)
toddanderson collected 4578 from pot
courtiebee said, “you’re such a card rack”

Kmind is a card rack, but he is lucky that Shif felt like putting in 2000 more chips with nothing but an oesd with a flush draw on the board! I was surprised when he didn’t hit, and now kmind was your chip leader. We were still down to 10, on the final table bubble, and Jishu was still short stacked:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Curtom: folds
Isopbc: folds
reidak: raises 310 to 340 and is all-in
geno9: calls 325
Tchrsmth: folds
*** FLOP *** [Ks 6c Js]

*** SHOW DOWN ***
geno9: shows [8d 8c] (a pair of Eights)
reidak: shows [6s Ad] (a pair of Sixes)
geno9 collected 710 from pot

That ended it for him, in 10th place. We now had our final table, however at the same time that this hand took place, we saw another big all-in at the other table between Ms. Bee and Mr. Donk:

*** HOLE CARDS ***

Sick, and courtie doubles up just as the final table is brought together! There wasn’t much to talk about chip wise since there was only 12 players when we started, but here were the chip counts when it began:

Seat 1: geno9 (1945 in chips)
Seat 2: Isopbc (2060 in chips)
Seat 3: hershy253 (1008 in chips)
Seat 4: efil4elbmow (1200 in chips)
Seat 5: Tchrsmth (1195 in chips)
Seat 6: toddanderson (2887 in chips)
Seat 7: courtiebee (3412 in chips)
Seat 8: Curtom (2330 in chips)
Seat 9: Shifubowa (1963 in chips)

Courtie was now the chip leader, with kmind in second. The bottom stacks were hershy and biondino, who had been sitting out for the first 30 minutes. However, he arrived late and now was ready to play. With the blinds only at 25/50 no one was in harms way yet, but just one hand later, we saw a clash of some big hands:

*** HOLE CARDS ***

*** SHOW DOWN ***

Isopbc collected 4045 from pot

Curtom put his tournament life on the thought of Isop not having an ace, but he did and was now down to just 300 chips. Just a couple hands later and kmind would end up finishing him off:

*** HOLE CARDS ***

courtiebee said, “wtf aks too”

I guess he does “run bad” by finishing Curtom in 9th place. Speaking of running bad, kmind found himself in another pot where he was behind, then hit a miracle turn card:

*** HOLE CARDS ***

courtiebee said, “gg”

This time the victim was Tchrsmth, who couldn’t get much going this game and was done in 8th place. There was a lot of action so far in this game, but it was different than other final tables. Mainly it was just coolers or coinflips, not much preflop action or resteals. Speaking of flipping coins, here is someone who has been very bad at it all season long:

*** HOLE CARDS ***

efil4elbmow said, “boo”
courtiebee said, “oh really”

Biondino showed up 30 mins late, played one hand, and now found himself being the short stack. With less than 500 chips left, he shoved it in, but guess who woke up with a hand?

*** HOLE CARDS ***

Of course kmind would have it! Binodino finished in 7th place, and wins the award for “the worst player who played all 12 games.” We were down to shorthanded play, and were just 45 mins in. Here were the chip counts:

Seat 1: geno9 (2220 in chips)
Seat 2: Isopbc (3570 in chips)
Seat 3: hershy253 (991 in chips)
Seat 6: toddanderson (5258 in chips)
Seat 7: courtiebee (3712 in chips)
Seat 9: Shifubowa (2249 in chips)

Kmind was the chip leader, with courtie and Isop very close in 2nd – 3rd. Hershy was the only one who really had to panic at this point, and anything could still happen. However, courtie came to play this game, as she showed by making a sick sick call against Mr Shif:

*** HOLE CARDS ***

What a call! She did dodge nearly a million outs, any 8 J Q K or spade would have won it for Shif, but her sick call held up and Shif was done in 6th place. Some other people must have taken crazy pills as well, including kmind:

Toddanderson loves me apparently, but he’s a donk. At the first break, not too much had changed except courtie had taken over the chip lead:

Seat 1: geno9 (2614 in chips)
Seat 2: Isopbc (2670 in chips)
Seat 3: hershy253 (997 in chips)
Seat 6: toddanderson (4858 in chips)
Seat 7: courtiebee (6861 in chips)

Courtie was on a roll, and right after the break saw an opportunity to knock off another player, and found she had hershy right where she wanted him:

From this point on down to 4 way, people started to tighten up and we were seeing a lot of raise/fold poker. There wasn’t very many resteals, and about 20 hands went uncontested.
