It was the last game of the season on Wednesday night, and there were still 14 people who had yet finished going all-in. There isn’t much excitement position wise, because JM has been the winner for the past few weeks, but there was still some interesting turn abouts in tonights game! If you are not sure what the Gauntlet is, be sure to click on the word “Gauntlet” to find out and register. Basically, it is FTR’s own private league where we donk around and have fun. You will see in a lot of the hand histories there is some bashing/talking, and that’s because we all know each other and have a good time. If you haven’t already, register and play with us next game. After reading the summary, make sure to see who won this games award for “lol cooleraments” which will be the cooler of the night, “wtf was he thinking” which will be the questionable play of the night, along with “beat of the night” which will be the worst beat.

It was all she wrote for everyone tonight, as it was the final game! 14 people had showed up just for the fun of it trying to get every point possible in hopes to move up to the top 10 leaderboard. At the end of every season, the top 10 from every past season are invited to compete in the private Gauntlet Tournament of Champions. This seasons TOC VI will take place on Sunday, 6 January 2008, at 3:00pm ET. If you placed in the top 10 during this or any of the past Gauntlet series, you can play! Speaking of top 10, lets have a look at the leaderbroad prior to the final game:

FTR Name – GP – Points / Change
Jimmy Mac – 12 – 811.15 / 0
spin_md – 12 – 693.36 / 0
kmind – 10 – 642.34 / +2
givememyleg – 12 – 637.11 / -1
ackthecat – 12 – 593.15 / -1
Isop – 11 – 575.17 / 0
geno9 – 11 – 574.40 / +5
Shifubowa – 12 – 551.87 / +1
Bender50 – 12 – 543.61 / -1
Fimanoid – 12 – 529.45 / -3

The mega donk kmind ended up stealing 3rd place from me, and I hate his guts for that. There is no way to catch up to Jimmy Mac for him since he can only play 11 games, but with a nice showing tonight he could pass up spin_md for second. Also, courtiebee made a silly prop bet with swiggidy at the beginning of the season, however she can only get 10 games in versus swigg’s 12. She had to concede prior to the start because there was only 14 players registered making it impossible for her to win. Warpe had also placed a $20 bounty on his own head for the final game, which was awesome! I was upset at kmind so put 100 cents over his head as well, so let’s see who can score some extra money and possibly move up in position.

When flomo is playing, you can expect some very fast play, however even I was surprised to see the first all-in only just a few hands into the tournament:

Luckily for him pankfish did not like folding and he now had some more to work with.

30 minutes in, courtie was the dominating chip leader with 2730, DCM was in second with 1860, and the shorties were AvatarKava and Flomo, both with around 750. The blinds were now 25/50 and there were a ton of smallish pots being played, with nothing much happening. However, this is what it’s like when shorties collide:

Sick suckout there, which left poor flomo with 50 chips and a bad taste in his mouth. He would find one small double up, then be done in by Ms. Bee:

Flomo was the first gone, in 14th place. Warpe had put a $20 bounty on himself, and wasn’t getting involved in much of the action early on. However, he picked his spot and found the short stack Pie had to take his shot at a double up:

I have NO idea what Pie was doing there! At best he would have a gssd and a backdoor flush draw, but I guess he took his chance. He hit a 6 on the turn and eliminated Warpe in 13th place, earning himself the bounty in the sickest way possible. Pie showed with this hand that he was willing to gamble with almost anything, and a few hands later badgers would also feel his wraith:

Wow is right! Pie was in the mood to take a chance tonight and it had been paying off so far, this time eliminating badgers in 12th place. Silly String (SandbaggerJO) had been pretty quiet so far, but found a perfect spot to re-raise the aggressive Sauce:

That was the end of kmind’s season as the bubble boy, finishing 10th. Pie could do nothing wrong it seemed, and we were now at the final table. Here were the counts as things got going:

Seat 1: pankfish (1629 in chips)
Seat 2: courtiebee (2832 in chips)
Seat 3: pedroabm (569 in chips)
Seat 4: geno9 (1625 in chips)
Seat 5: C2Knuckles (5562 in chips)
Seat 6: AvatarKava (1877 in chips)
Seat 7: DCMirage (1684 in chips)
Seat 8: SandbaggerJO (4205 in chips)
Seat 9: Tchrsmth (1017 in chips)

I Like Pie (C2Knuckles) was the dominating stack, and Silly String (SandbaggerJO) was not too far behind. Pedroabm was a massive short stack with only 569 chips, and Tchrsmth also didn’t have much to choose from. Just the first hand of the FT and we saw more shorty on shorty action:

We were now down to 7 and this was a pretty aggressive bunch. No one would let the others steal, and we started to see a pattern of 3bets with everyone taking their own turn:

courtiebee said, “wow nh”
SandbaggerJO said, “dang, big pot to Pie”

That sent pank out in 7th place, and gave Pie a huge boost to his stack. We were now shorthanded with just 6 people left that quickly, and here were the chip stacks:

Seat 2: courtiebee (2157 in chips)
Seat 4: geno9 (2512 in chips)
Seat 5: C2Knuckles (7614 in chips)
Seat 7: DCMirage (1759 in chips)
Seat 8: SandbaggerJO (5472 in chips)
Seat 9: Tchrsmth (1486 in chips)

Pie was the leader, but Silly String wasn’t too far behind. From here on we would see them battle back and forth many times, with SS getting the better at the start:

SandbaggerJO: doesn’t show hand

He stole the chip lead just one hand later. With Pie raising so many pots he starts to get less respect from everyone. However, that still doesn’t mean he doesn’t have it, which is a tough lesson Tchrsmth would learn:

*** HOLE CARDS ***

That sent him out in 6th place and added back to Pie’s stack. Silly String then went on a nice little heater, picking on the table and knocked down Pie again:

But she was dominated and couldn’t find a way out. Silly String added to his already massive chip lead and courtie hit the rail in 5th place. Silly String now took over the previous roll I Like Pie had, the “do anything and have everything work out” strategy:

*** HOLE CARDS ***

His T5 sooooted scored him another elimination, geno in 4th place. We were now down to 3, and it was clear who the favorite was:

Seat 5: C2Knuckles (4849 in chips)
Seat 7: DCMirage (1459 in chips)
Seat 8: SandbaggerJO (14692 in chips)

However, we have seen blow ups before, and I wouldn’t count anyone out. This was one of the fastest final tables to date, as it hadn’t even been 15 mins since the start and we were already down to 3! The action was very fast, and we would see a lot of pots, most of these coming directly from the Silly String bank account:

At this point Pie was now going crazy, raising almost every single hand. He was definitely using his chip stack very effectively, and also playing postflop well:

The tides had changed and String was now again the chip leader, and Pie found himself on the short stack. String was now dominating by raising relentlessly, and had won himself the next 12/18 pots uncontested. He had really built a big stack and a bad image, and someone with a bad image and a good hand is a very bad combo:

Poor flomo!

I sure hope everyone enjoyed the tears, and the cheers that was season 6. I sure had a lot of fun documenting every game, and hope to continue next season whenever it may be. I will write up one more summary of the entire season in the next few days, with the final leaderboard and announce the winners. Remember that if you finished in the top 10 of this or any season, you are invited to play in the Gauntlet VI TOC on Sunday, 6 January 2008, at 3:00pm ET. I hope to see you at that gane, and will be back next season!
