Gus Hansen absolutely destroyed all comers on the Omaha tables this weekend. The swings were huge, but eventually Gus would reach over 2 million dollars in profit between Friday and Monday.

The action packed weekend began on Friday evening with a heads up match between Gus and trex313 on Gus’ own $500/1000 heads up pot limit Omaha table. The first big pot between the two came out to over $100,000. Gus raised from the button to $3k preflop and trex313 called to see 4s 9h Js come on the flop. Trex313 checked it over to Gus who put out a $6k continuation bet. Trex313 however would then reraise it to $24k only to have Gus follow with an all in push. The nearly $30k push was called by trex313 who showed Ac Jc 9s Jd for top two pair. Gus however turned over Qc Tc 3s As for an open ended straight draw and the nut flush draw. The turn brought the 7s which gave Gus his flush and trex313 would need to catch a jack or nine on the river to take the pot. The 2h came on the river though and Gus took down the $112,592 pot to start off the weekend.

The next pot would nearly double the last in size as both players now had stacks of over $100k. The hand began with trex313 raising to $3k from the button and Hansen repopping it to $9k from the big blind. Trex313 called the reraise and the flop came Tc 4h 5h. Gus put out a bet of $18k, however trex313 reraised to $72k behind him. Gus then put the rest of his stack in and trex313 called just over $30k more for a showdown. Gus flipped over Ac Td Ah Th for top set and the nut flush draw, while trex313 showed 8d 5s 6c 7c for a big straight wrap. The turn dropped the As on the board giving Gus a set of aces and trex313 would need to catch a non-heart 3, 6, 7, or 8 to win the pot on the river. The Qd came down on the table though and Gus’ three aces would be enough to win the $224,183 from the middle of the table.

At the same time as the heads up match with trex313, Gus was also playing a few other $500/1000 pot limit Omaha tables with some of the big names of poker. In one large pot, the action folded around to Phil Ivey who decided to raise it to $3k from the small blind. Hansen called the raise and the flop came Tc 2d 8d. Ivey led out with a $5k bet and Hansen called behind to see the As on the turn. Ivey bet out once again, this time for $14k, however Hansen reraised to $58k behind him. Ivey had slightly less than $40k remaining in his stack and would make the call, turning over Jh Qc 3s Th for a pair of tens and a double gutshot straight draw. Gus flipped over 7c Ah Jd Js for a pair of aces and would need to dodge all of the threes, nines, queens, and kings in the deck on the river. The river came the 4c which didn’t improve Ivey’s hand and Hansen took down the $122,482 pot.

Hansen smooth called and the turn came the 7s. This time Hansen led out with an $18k bet, but Antonius continued his aggression by pushing it up to $73,500. Hansen reraised again and Antonius called off his remaining $11,048. Hansen turned over Ks 3h 6s 4h for a king high flush but was drawing dead against Antonius’ ace high flush with Ad 4s Jh As. The river came the 9d but it didn’t matter as Antonius was already guaranteed the win in the $188,593 pot.

Hansen called and mucked his hand when trex313 showed As 7h Ts Ks for sevens full of tens. This time the $166,800 pot would go the way of trex313.

Trex313 would then raise that bet up to $27k only to have Hansen push it all the way up to $81k. Trex313 would just call this raise and the flop came 8c 2c 3s. Meanwhile, the heads up match was still going strong. However Hansen’s stack was now under $80k after the gigantic loss. Trex313 would begin the next big hand with a raise to $3k from the button. Hansen reraised this from the big blind to $9k and was called. The flop came 2d 5h 7s and Hansen checked it to trex313 who bet out $12k. Hansen reraised this to $54k, however trex313 then popped it up once again. Gus Hansen called the rest of his over $15k stack off and showed 2s 8c As Ad for a pair of aces. The turn came the 3c which gave trex313 a straight and Hansen was drawing dead. Trex313 would deal another blow to Hansen by picking up the $156,368 pot.

Hansen obviously hadn’t had enough yet though as he again bought back in and continued to play. He would have to hope the momentum would swing his way soon, hopefully allowing him to grab a few large pots. The next hand would have the potential to swing things in a big way as the pot reached nearly $200k. Trex313 raised to $3k from the button but Gus reraised it up to $9k. Trex313 called and the flop came 5c Ah 6s. Gus put out a continuation bet of $18,000, however trex313 raised behind him up to $72k. Hansen then raised again, adding just under another $16k to the pot. Trex313 called and flipped over 8d 7d 9h Ts for a large straight wrap, while Hansen showed 8s Th Qc As for a pair of aces. The turn brought the 6c and Hansen would just have to dodge the straight cards on the river to pick up a nice pot. The river was the Td which didn’t help trex313 and Hansen would scoop up the $193,995 pot with his two pair.

For the next little while, trex313 would chip away at Hansen stack and again get him back to only $100k before the next big pot took place. Trex313 raised the button only to have Hansen reraise it to $9k from the big blind. Trex313 however would four bet it up to $27k, which would be called by Hansen. The flop came of Jh 6s 2s and Hansen would check it to trex313 who would then bet out $54k. Hansen pushed all in behind the bet and trex313 would call just over $18k more to see a showdown. Hansen turned over Kd 9d Qh 2h for a pair of twos, while trex313 had Ah As 4c 6d for a pair of aces. The turn would bring the Qd though which gave Hansen two pair and the lead in the hand. The two would then begin to play another heads up game simultaneously where the stacks were right around even at $125k until the next huge hand. Trex313 raised the button and Hansen reraised from the big blind. Trex313 called to see the flop of 2c Jd 4c which Hansen checked. Trex313 then bet out $12k and Hansen smooth called to see the 5d come on the turn. This time Hansen led out with a $42k bet, however trex313 moved all in behind Gus’ raise. Hansen led out with an $18k bet only to have trex313 reraise to $72k behind him. Gus then said ‘oh ohh’ in chat before pushing all in anyway. Trex313 would call and turn over 4d Ah 4h 6c for a pair of fours and the nut flush draw. Hansen on the other hand showed Ts Jd Kd 9h for a pair of kings and a straight wrap. Hansen’s match with trex313 would soon come to an end, however with the way the match was going it had to be a relief to Gus. OMGClayAiken was the next challenger to sit down with Gus and the two wouldn’t waste much time, diving right into some big pots. In the first big one, Hansen raised to $3k from the button and OMGClayAiken would call to see the flop of Th Qd 7s. OMGClayAiken would check it to Hansen who led out with a $4k bet. OMGClayAiken would call and the turn came the Ac. OMGClayAiken would again check it over to Hansen who put out a bet of $8k. OMGClayAiken however would reraise that to $24,400 which Hansen would call. The river came the 4h and OMGClayAiken bet out $52,400 this time. Hansen would announce ‘ups’ in chat, which seems to be Danish for ‘I know I’m beat but I’m going to call anyway’, and made the call. This time however, Hansen’s three aces with 9c Ad Jc As would be good enough to beat OMGClayAiken’s pair of kings and Hansen would take down the $167,600 pot.

On another table there was some three way action going on as Hansen was playing with durrrr and JohnnyPav, who began the action in the next big pot with a raise to $3.5k from the button. Hansen then reraised to $6k from the small blind. Durrrr called, however JohnnyPav would then push all in, which put the bet up to $10,500. Both the other players called and the flop came 6h 8h Qs. Hansen led out with a $31,500 bet, however durrrr would reraise it to $126k behind him. Hansen put in another raise and durrrr would call the less than $1k he had remaining. Hansen showed Qh Ac 6c Qc for top set, while Dwan showed 8s Kh 7h 8c for middle set and a flush draw. For the smaller side pot, JohnnyPav showed Td Ah 8d 2h and had the other 8 as well as the nut flush draw. The turn came the 5c, which also gave durrrr a straight draw. The river however was another six, which gave Hansen a boat and the win in both pots totaling $285,320.

Durrrr would call from the small blind, only to have JohnnyPav reraise to $14k from the big blind. Hansen would then repop it again to $45,500, which durrrr would call. Hansen would call and show Jd Tc 8h Ad for the nut flush draw. Durrrr would turn over Td 9d 8d 7d and held a lot of the remaining diamonds, but nothing else. JohnnyPav had Jc Js As Kh and would be in the lead to win the side pot. The turn brought the 5s which would give durrrr a gutshot straight draw. Back at the six max table, there was some four handed action going on with some of the high stakes regulars. The next big pot began with Hansen limping under the gun and durrrr raising to $4,500 from the button. LarsLuzak however would then pump it up a bit more to $14,500. Both players called behind and the flop came Jc 9s 2s. LarsLuzak checked it to Hansen who led out with a $47,500 bet. Durrrr would then pop it up to $190k and Hansen would call off his remaining $56,973. Durrrr would show 4s 5h 8c Ts for a ten high flush, while Hansen turned over 5d As 5c 8s and would already have durrrr drawing dead. The turn brought the five of spades, the river the Qs, and Hansen took down the $256,446 pot with his ace high flush.

Back in the heads up match, pots continued to shoot over $300k on a regular basis. Durrrr would start off the next hand with a $3k raise which Hansen would call. The flop came 6s 2d 9d and Hansen checked the action to the preflop raiser who bet out $4,800. Hansen then reraised it to $20k which durrrr would call. The turn then brought the 6c and Hansen would lead out with a $46k bet. Durrrr would call behind and the river would come the 3d. Hansen then bet enough to put durrrr all in and he would indeed call just over $90k more to see a showdown. Hansen would show 7s 2h 2c Qs for deuces full of sixes, however durrrr turned over Qd 9h Th 6h for sixes full of nines and would take down the $320,756 pot.

It was then back to the four man game for a pot worth just over a quarter million dollars. The hand would begin with a raise to $3k by durrrr and a reraise by Hansen to $9,500. Durrrr called the reraise and the flop came 6s 5d Jc. Hansen put out a $19,500 continuation bet, however durrrr would repop it up to $78k. Hansen would come over the top of durrrr though and go all in. Durrrr would call just over $40k more to see the turn and river. Hansen showed Js Td 6c Ad for top two pair, while durrrr was holding 8s 7h 8c 5c for a pair of eights and a straight draw. The turn brought the Kh which didn’t help anyone, and the river brought the Ts which changed nothing either. Gus Hansen’s two pair would be good enough to pick up the $257,811 pot as the massive swings continued.

Although the game was now five handed, the big battle was still going on between durrrr and Hansen. Hansen would raise to $2k from under the gun, however durrrr would reraise that to $7,500. This would fold out the rest of the players and Hansen would call to see the flop of 9d Ah Th. Both players would check it through to the turn, which came the Qd. Hansen again checked, but this time durrrr would bet out $13,200. Hansen would smooth call to see the 6s fall on the river. Once again, Hansen checked it to durrrr who bet out $35,700 this time. Hansen wouldn’t just call this time though, as he repopped it up to $131k behind durrrr’s raise. Durrrr would call and muck his hand as Hansen showed the nut straight with Kc Jh 4s Qc. Yet another huge pot, this one worth $304,898 would go Hansen’s way.

After all the raising, world1969’s $20k stack was in the middle, as was durrrr’s entire $129k stack along with Hansen’s money as well. The flop came 6s 9d Jd, which gave world1969 a pair of sixes and an open ended straight draw, while it also paired Hansen’s jack. The turn came the 4h which gave Hansen two pair and the lead in the hand. The Kh came on the river which didn’t improve anybody’s hand and Hansen would scoop the entire pot with his two pair.

Meanwhile the heads up match between durrrr and Hansen continued as durrrr raised to $3k from the button. Hansen reraised it to $9k, which would be called by durrrr. The flop came 4h Jd 7d and Hansen led out with an $18k bet. Durrrr threw in some more chips, pushing it up to $72k. Hansen then typed in the chat ‘I hate my hand, but it could win,’ which seemed to be good enough for him as he pushed all in over durrrr’s raise. Durrrr would call nearly $60k more and turn over Td 9s Qs Ad for the nut flush draw and a gut shot straight draw. Hansen would be in the lead however, as he showed two pair with Js 4d Ac Ah, nearly the exact same hand he had in the previous hand. The 9h came on the turn, giving durrrr a pair of nines, but still leaving him behind Hansen. The 6c fell on the river which didn’t change anything and Hansen would take down the $278,388 pot.

Shortly after, the two would play another pot worth nearly a quarter million dollars. Hansen would raise the button only to have durrrr push it up to $9k from the big blind. Hansen made the call and the flop came 7h 2c Ks. Durrrr put out a $13,200 continuation bet only to have Hansen repop it up to $57,600 behind him. Durrrr would call though and the turn brought the Js. Durrrr again took the lead, but then put in a bet big enough to put Hansen all in. Hansen must have been surprised by this as he typed ‘wauw’ into chat before calling off the nearly $55k he had remaining in his stack before turning over Qs Kh Ac 3c for a pair of kings and a gutshot straight draw. Durrrr on the other hand showed Kc 5c 9h Qh for a pair of kings with a lower kicker and a lower gutshot straight draw. The river paired the board with another deuce and Hansen would take down $242,310 from the pot with his higher kicker.

When all the money was in durrrr showed 4s Ah As 6h for double suited aces, while Hansen turned over double suited kings with Kd Ks 4d 6s. One of Hansen’s suits however was dominated by durrrr’s. The flop would come 2h Ts 9c, not really changing anything. The turn came the Kh, which gave Hansen a set of kings, but also gave durrrr a nut flush draw. The river came the Ac however, giving durrrr a set of aces and the win in the $186,204 pot.

Durrrr popped it up once again to $27k. Hansen would call and the flop came Qc 3h Th. Hansen would then lead out with a $54k bet, however durrrr came over the top, pushing all in. The final big hand of the weekend for Hansen would involve yet another all in with durrrr. Hansen raised the button, but durrrr would reraise from the big blind. Hansen would put it up to $27k and durrrr would call to see the flop of 2h 6d Ts. Durrrr would lead out on the flop with a $54k bet only to have Hansen come over the top. The turn brought the Td though, which gave durrrr three of a kind and a huge lead in the pot. The river came the Ah however, which caught Hansen up, giving him aces full of tens and the win in the $221,195 pot, capping off an amazing weekend of Omaha play.
