The 14th installment of FullTilt Poker’s Online Tournament Series has begun. For those unfamiliar with the series, it typically runs twice a year and contains 25 Events with different buy-ins and games. Event #1, a $200+$16 NL 6max Freeze Out completed earlier this morning. The tournament was hosted by FullTilt Professional Allen Cunningham, and had a $1,000,000 Guarantee. Cunningham was a great choice to kick-start the series, as he is widely considered one of the best poker players in the world. Supporting these arguments are five WSOP bracelets and a fourth-place finish in the 2006 Main Event where he had numerous battles with eventual champion Jamie Gold.
Cunningham was joined by 29 other FullTilt “Red Pros”, including WSOP Main Event Champion Huck Seed, two-time WSOP bracelet winner Scott Pitchman, and PLO professional Robert Williamson III. Overall 4,694 players entered the event, which meant the first event of the series failed to meet its guarantee by a wide margin. With 5,000 players needed to reach a $1,000,000 prize pool, FullTilt was forced to add $61,200 of its own money to the pot, creating a nice overlay for those who played.
A bit of steam was taken out of the final table when the four remaining players decided to chop the remaining prize pool. “s00tedj0kers89” took the largest piece of the pie, with a $120,000 post-deal cash. Right behind him was “kev19” who took home $115,000 after the deal was done.
