While last week saw a nice boost in entries across the board, online tournaments finally felt the effects of the WSOP as every tournament struggled to reach their guarantees.  For reports on all the major WSOP Events be sure to check out the FlopTurnRiver News Section.

The Sunday Warm-Up kicked things off nicely, with nearly 4,000 entrants creating a prize pool $800 shy of $800,000.  An alarming trend, that of no professionals making the final table, continued this week as a group of unknowns battled it out for first place and over $125,000.  Heads-up came down to “EZHOV” and “jenone”, two players with little success to speak of before yesterday. The final hand was a huge cooler, with both players flopping trips, only for EZHOV’s kicker to be higher than jenone’s.

The Sunday Million saw one big-named short-stack at the final table, bdbeatslayer.  The rest of the field, looking to cash in on the $225,000 first place prize, did not have much experience at big final tables.  Once play became four-handed a chop was proposed and it took PokerStars support nearly 30 minutes to appear and announce the chip-chop numbers, eventually the four agreed and played for what was a $30,000 winner-take-all SNG.  Below are the final table stacks, bust-out hands, and pay-outs:

One of the best final tables in some time occurred last night at the Sunday500.  A plethora of big buy-in tournament professionals arrived looking for a $87,400 payday.  The first big name to bust was “bigegypt” who went out in 7th for $15,000.  He was followed shortly thereafter by “dw2006” who took 6th for $20,000.  Heads-Up play came down to two huge names in online poker, “jcamby33” and “Barbarossa_7”.  While Barbarossa_7 is more well known for his cash game prowess, jcamby33 is one of the biggest online tournament winners of all time.  He now has over $2,138,000 in cashes on PokerStars alone including a $200,474 score in the Sunday Million over two years ago. On the final hand Barbarossa flopped a straight while jcamby flopped a pair+gutshot.  Barbaraossa’s hand held and he walked away with his biggest tourney score to date.

Two players made the final table of both the $215r and Sunday Second Chance.  One of them, Chris “Moorman1” Moorman, is widely considered one of the top-5 online tournament players in the world.  He is currently ranked as the 2nd best player on PokerStars behind the one and only Shaundeeb. While he was quite busy, so was “AAqueens22”, a big tournament grinder whose biggest score was winning the Mulligan this past January for $55,941.  While he didn’t quite eclipse that score yesterday he did book another win in a Sunday Major by taking down “jeff710” heads-up for $41,000.

Moorman1 ended up finishing 3rd in the $215r and 4th in the Second Chance, totally just over $40,000 for the two final tables.  While AAqueens22 was fortunate enough to win the re-buy, he was actually the first to bust in the Second Chance, taking home a paltry $3,600.  While two of the bigger names busted early, the 3rd professional at the table “Assassinato”, made sure to book another win for the pros.  The near $47,000 cash was the second biggest of his career, just behind a 5th place finish in the Sunday Million last September.

While PokerStars struggled to reach their guarantees FullTilt had no such problem.  All three of their Sunday Majors easily gained enough entrants, allowing FullTilt a Sunday off from paying out overlays.  Even with the WSOP running, 19 FullTilt Red Pro’s played in the day’s first event, the $350k Sunday Brawl, including Scott Fischman, Mike “Timex” McDonald, and Ram Vaswani.  Unfortunately no professional made a deep run, leaving the final table full of players looking for their first big score.  “Snusarn1” took advantage of his opportunity, outlasting “Renar0x” for the win and an $82,000+ payday.

The WSOP seems to have rejuvenated the Sunday $750k on FullTilt.  The tournament finally hit its guarantee last week and continued this week with nearly 3,800 entrants bringing the prize pool just shy of $760,000.  The biggest name at the final table was “bigdogpckt5s” who won FTOPS Event #9 last November for over $277,000.  He was joined by “muckmebeautiful” and “rambo1951” who battled it out for first place and the $134,000 check.  The title ended up being won by muckmebeautiful on what can only be described as one of the worst final table bad beat of the year:

The Sunday Mulligan saw only seven FullTilt sponsored professionals playing, including Lee Watkinson, Steve Wong, and Stuart Paterson.  Mike “Timex” McDonald made the deepest run, finishing in 62nd place, just inside the money. With 1,125 entrants the prize pool soared well over its guarantee of $200,000.  Heads-up came down to “Mpiyav” and “AsMetzmangyAs” with the lesser-known Mpiyav taking home the title and just over $50,000.  AsMetzmagnyAs nearly passed his highest score, a $53,000 cash for a 3rd place finish in the $750k this past March.
