As if their current array of awesome tournaments and guaranteed wasn’t enough, they’re adding ChampionChip, their newest weekly event, to their Sunday line-up, and with it comes an exciting $200,000 in guaranteed prize money each and every week.
Tower Gaming is one of the more popular skins on the Ongame Poker network, which is one of the most popular networks on the market today. Sadly they don’t accept players from the United States, but the downloadable client is fully functional on Windows, Mac and even Linux, meaning that anybody is able to play. They have a great variety of cash games running around the clock, as well as an awesome schedule of tournaments.
Tower Gaming’s latest pride and joy, the ChampionChip, is the biggest weekly guarantee ever hosted by the site. Their previous Sunday Major, the “Big Deal”, had a guaranteed prize pool of only half that of ChampionChip, and so this is a truly exciting announcement for Tower Gaming. As well as being an awesome tournament in its own right, ChampionChip brings the total guaranteed prize pool available every weekend at Tower Gaming up to a staggering $1.8 Million. The tournament will run every Sunday and kicks off at 6pm CET so be sure not to miss out.
While this is pegged as a $200,000 guarantee, it should be noted that the Tower Gaming website states the guarantee has been “temporarily lowered” to $150,000. This is probably to make the transition from the Big Deal to the ChampionChip, and in any event this kind of announcement is actually a good sign, as wherever poker rooms are struggling to meet guarantees there are likely to be overlays, which means some of the money in the prize pool is not added by players, and therefore there is an awesome amount of value.
The tournament costs $190+10 to enter, which is just shy of the usual buy-in for Sunday majors. If that sounds a little bit steep, Tower Gaming is very understanding, and is running satellite tournaments each and every day throughout the week to allow players to win tickets to the ChampionChip for a fraction of the cost. In fact these satellites start for as little as $1.20, so there’s really no reason which should prevent anybody from trying their hand at this fantastic tournament. Hopefully the prize pool becomes guaranteed in full in the near future, but either way this is a fantastic tournament and a great addition to anybody’s weekend.
