With the FTOPS Main Event being played out over the weekend, the action was as good as ever on both Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars. The Main Event itself attracted 3,327 players, boosting the original $1.5m prizepool to just shy of $2m. But even though this was the highlight of the weekend, let’s save it for later and look at some of the regular Sunday majors.
The Sunday Warm-Up on PokerStars has been gaining a good amount of entrances each week. Of course some of it has to do with the FTOPS series running on Full Tilt, but mostly it’s an indication that more and more people are coming back from their summer breaks and looking for a good poker game. This time the lucky winner was German “Poker id 4me” who struck a deal with “joaombrito” heads – up and walked away with 99,009.80 and the title.
The Sunday Million also saw the number of entrance rising and this time the final 4 players decided to make a deal. “Hausgaard87” received $123,151.89, the lowest amount out of the three players. Despite this he was able to climb up and finish in third place. “UncleAnte9” received $147,313.55 and was the first one to be eliminated following the deal. “squee451” received $150,341.77 and lost the heads up match to Sweden’s “smk2113” who was the chip leader at the time the deal was struck and received $165,948.18.
The Sunday 500 saw Brazilian pro “XTheDecanoX” storming to an outright win. “XTheDecanoX” has been playing high stakes online tournaments for years and has multiple six – figure scores to his name, including wins in WCOOP tournaments and a win in the 2011 UBOC Main Event. This time the Brazilian walked away with $77,850.00.
Meanwhile, on Full Tilt Poker the FTOPS series was coming to an end and the two most interesting tournaments were saved for the weekend. The first one was the two – day event #35, where Toby “sexystuff1989” Lewis took down the FTOPS title after striking a deal and receiving $253,063.21. Toby is a highly accomplished online player with a TCOOP win, multiple SCOOP final tables as well as FTOPS final table appearances.
And last but not least, the Main Event! After hours of battle, three players were left standing and decided to make a deal. “MarkusG” from Norway had the smallest chip stack and got the least out of the deal – $234,517.49, which is still pretty impressive. He was soon eliminated after the deal was done. “Itahaschi” from Germany was second in chips receiving $270,828.43 and “DiaperSniper14” from Canada was the chip leader getting $301,118.88 out of the deal. Despite his chip advantage, “DiaperSniper14” could not pull off a win as “Itahaschi” quickly took control of the match and easily cruised to victory, becoming the raining FTOPS champion!
