With the WCOOP and MiniFTOPS in full swing, the excitement is bigger than ever! Just this Sunday more than $7 million in prizes were awarded across the two series! Once again, let’s take a look at this weekends’ biggest winners.
Sundays’ WCOOP events were packed pretty closely and started within a few hours of each other, mostly because each of them was a 2-day event with 10 hours of play on day 1.
Event #22 kicked off first and with a $1.25 Guaranteed prize pool it attracted almost 10,000 players, ballooning the prize pool to almost $2 million! After two days of battle, two players were left and the decided to make a deal before playing it out. “LOL_U_91” from Belgium who won $211,000 in WCOOP Event #1 in 2011 was the short stack and got $226,673.44 out of the deal, while chip leader Jonathan “Iftarii” Jaffe held the chip lead and got “$251,673.45”. This year Jonathan cashed the WSOP Main Event for $185,694! Eventually Jonathan managed to hold on to his lead and took down his first WCOOP title!
Event #23 was a High Roller event with a $10,300 buy – in which attracted some of the best online and live players out there. Late Monday evening the final table was being played out and players were battling for a first place prize of almost $600,000! Eventually it was “M.nosbocaJ” from the UK and “MauriceSch” from Canada who made a deal heads up with “M.nosbocaJ” receiving $480,000.00 and “MauriceSch” receiving $533,200.00. “MauriceSch” managed to hold on to his lead and captured his first WCOOP title!
Event #24 was a $700 buy in event which attracted almost 3500 players! A four way deal was made at the final table. The short stack “romanooo64” from Malta received $212,957.88 for his efforts, but was eventually knocked out in 4th place. One of the most successful players in the world – Jason Mercier was in third place and received $229,965.47, but he also could not break through to the heads up battle and was eliminated in third place. “Pimmss” from the Netherlands was in second chip position and received $247,457.00, while “vovanmillion” from Russia got $271,889.75 and eventually closed out the tournament for his first WCOOP title as well!
Meanwhile, at Bovada Poker the MiniFTOPS series was in full swing and Sundays first event featured only a $13 buy in with multiple entries. More than 14,000 people registered for the tournament and eventually it was down to two Canadians – “KENTRAPU” and “callyoudownn”. No deals were made as “callyoudownn” easily navigated the heads up battle and cruised to victory for $21,574.14!
Event #20 was next and with a $33 buy in, more than 9,000 players showed up, creating a prize pool of 275,850! Again no deals were made as “gosucash” from Russia defeated “CAREPEZ” from Costa Rica for a $44,136.00 payday and his first MiniFTOPS title!
Sundays last event was the $22 Escalator Event #21. In the early hours of the morning the tournament was coming to an end and again no deals were made at any point of the final table. “grigorq77” from Poland held the chip lead for most of the final table and eventually defeated “Rainmaker-JG” from Germany heads up for $5,636.00, while the German had to settle for 2nd place and $3,747.94.
