WSOP APAC

WSOP APAC

The third in the series of events planned for the inaugural WSOP APAC has played through it’s first day. This Mixed Event had a buy in of A$2,200, and attracted 81 runners.

The quality of the field makes most $2,000+ buy in events look like your average Tuesday Night event at your local backwater casino.

With players the quality of Phil Hellmuth (5,625), Phil Ivey (21,425), Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier (31,500) and Joe Hachem (Busted) the event looked like a “Who’s Who” of poker.

Former WSOP bracelet runner up Brandon Wong is leading the pack going into Day 2, with 42,925.

The field was so packed full of quality names, it was becoming an in joke with the  players. Daniel Negreanu was sat at the table attracting all the attention from the rail. and tweeted to the world:

Daniel is starting out the day in good company tomorrow, with Dan Kelly, Chad Brown and Eugene Katchalov all sat at his table, all trying to take the 16,700 chips sitting in front of him.

Action starts at noon local time tomorrow, and the star studded field will play down to a final table, to be completed on Wednesday.

We’re expecting the prize pool, and the payouts to be announced tomorrow, and we’ll bring those, and the rest of the news to you on FlopTurnRiver.com.
