WSOP APAC

WSOP APAC

After a short Day 1, and a full Day 2, the players have bagged their chips, and crawled off to bed to get ready for Day 3 of the last Event in this year’s WSOP APAC.

The Chip Leader going into day 3 is Winfred Yu, who has a string of cashes in Macau events, and he last cashed 3rd in $100k buy in High Roller in London back in September.

Yu goes into Day 3 with a 432,700 chip stack, which equates to around 270 big blinds, so he could be described as being deep stacked right now.

Yu has a comfortable lead over George Tsatsis in second place, who only has 365,800, which is a mere 228 big blinds, and has to be considered a short stack!

With the event no closed to more entries, the prize pool has been set, and the 405 players have all been battling for a A$1,038,825 first prize. 40 players will make the money, with the minimum cashout being $20,392.

The field is littered with the bodies of famous players not making it to day 3. Phil Ivey, Sam Trickett and Local Boy, Joe Hachem being among them.

Hachem made it most of the way through the day, but about quarter of an hour before the end of play, this came across my twitter feed:

So, as much as the 2005 Main Event winner wanted to win a bracelet on home soil, he’s going to have to wait until at least next year to get his hands on one.

One well known name still alive and kicking in the event is Daniel Negreanu. Sitting in 4th place (after ending day 1 as the chip leader), Daniel has been having fun at the tables. He has been caught serenading his table, while listening to Bob Marley, Damien Rice, and to quote the Canadian he’s “Being Goofy!”

Which ever Disney character he’s being he should keep on doing it, as he’s already had a final table in Event #4, and is looking good to go deep here as well, as well as having a great time:

The final 104 players coming back tomorrow are expecting to play seven ninety minute levels, starting at 1,000/2,000 with a 300 ante. We’ll bring you the action in our round up tomorrow. Keep an eye on the Facebook and Twitter streams for updates.
