Definition
Data mining is when you use software to acquire statistics or the betting patterns of opponents from Hand Histories using software like Poker Tracker or Holdem Manager. Information is power and data mining can be very useful when getting to know your opponents. It is worth noting that data mining software is against the Terms and Conditions of many online poker rooms, so tread carefully.
Example
I left tables open and my software up and running so I could data mine likely opponents I would see in the upcoming weeks at my new limit.
