Definition
To get a free card means to be able to see the next street without having to put any additional money in the pot. When you are in position, you often have the option of betting or checking to give yourself and your opponent a free card.
Example
With 4 outs to a made hand and knowledge that villain likes to check raise, I opted for a free card instead of betting.
